Mezquite (Prosopis glandulosa) is an abundant tree in Sonora and beyond. It is usually found in areas that have been previously disturbed. It is sought after for its use as firewood and charcoal. The sap is eaten as a sweet and the pods are used for flour and as livestock fodder.
